Howzit Sunshine!
It’s been a lekker couple of sunny days, hasn’t it? Honestly, this winter’s turning out to be pretty mild. Everyone warned us about a freezing cold one, but so far, not a snowflake in sight here in West Vancouver. We’ve only had frost on the windscreen one morning—can you believe it? Don’t get me wrong, it’s still cold, but hey, at least we’re not chipping ice off the driveway.
Firstly, I just want to say a massive thank you to all of you legends for being subscribers. I genuinely appreciate the support and the fact that so many of you actually take the time to read what I have to say. It means a lot.
Today I’m going to ask for a bit of help. I promise I’m not going to make a habit of it, but we’re at that time of year where a lot of things need to happen to set us up for success. Your help right now could make a huge difference, and I’d really appreciate it if you’re able to chip in or get involved. Let’s make this a year to remember for our community!

Your Chance to Help Shape the South African Institute
Things are coming together so nicely with the South African Institute of Canada. The website redesign is looking lekker and will be revealed soon, and the Howzit Canada platform is on track to launch by the end of January. Behind the scenes, we’ve personally spoken to over 130 South African-owned businesses across Canada—all ready to go live as soon as the site is ready.
But now, I need your help to take things to the next level.
1️⃣ We Need a Little Cash Flow:
Creating and maintaining these platforms and making sure everything runs smoothly takes resources. I’ve been covering the costs so far, but to make this launch as impactful as it can be, I need your support.
How can you help?
Send a donation to help cover costs.
Sign up as a Founding Member. Not only does this help us financially, but your name will also be forever listed on the South African Institute of Canada site as one of the legends who made this happen.
2️⃣ Help Us Find More Businesses:
If you know of South African-owned businesses or businesspeople anywhere in Canada, please email [email protected]. We want to connect with as many people as possible and make sure they’re part of this incredible project.
A Huge Thank You!
A massive shoutout to our first three founding members: Brett Adamson, Michael Ping, and The Herholdts. You legends are leading the way, and we couldn’t be more grateful for your support. Let’s keep the momentum going!
This is the moment. If you’ve ever thought about getting involved or giving back to the community, now’s the time. We could really use your help to make this happen.
Let’s do this together, because when we back each other, we all win.
Manne Met Die Planne Vancouver: A Community for South African Men
I’m stoked to let you know that the Manne Met Die Planne Vancouver community is up and running! It’s mainly for South African men in the Lower Mainland, but hey, if you’re elsewhere in Canada, jy’s ook welkom!
The idea is simple: it’s a place to help each other out, figure out how things work here, and just have a solid support system. No jokes, politics, or religion—just lekker advice and meaningful conversations. Plus, no one’s going to treat you like a dumbass if you ask a “how-does-this-even-work” kind of question.

We’ve set it up on two connected platforms:
A WhatsApp group for everyday chats, quick advice, and connections.
A nas.io space for all the extra stuff—think handy documents, commonly asked questions, and resources we all need from time to time.
There’s a short form to fill out when you join. It helps us keep things organized and know who we’re chatting to.
So, if you’re a South African guy in Vancouver—or you know one—please share this! Let’s make it easy to connect and support each other in this wild adventure of building a life in Canada.
Buying a Business in Vancouver 2025 Mastermind
As many of you know, I’ve made it my mission to buy a business in Vancouver in 2025. To help with this, I’ve set up a community called Buying a Business in Vancouver 2025 Mastermind.
This is a space for anyone interested in the process of buying a business—whether you’re actively looking to buy, just curious about how it works, or keen to learn more about things like valuations and entrepreneurial advice. It’s about connecting with others who are navigating—or want to navigate—this journey.
If you have any questions or want to chat about the process, just reply to this email or drop me a mail at [email protected].
Follow My YouTube Journey
To make this journey even more fun—and hopefully useful—I’ve started a YouTube channel where I’m documenting the entire process of buying a business in Canada this year. I’ll be sharing everything I’m learning, from valuations to how deals come together.
Now, here’s where you can really help me out: I need more subscribers and watch time to unlock all the cool YouTube tools that will let me grow the channel even further. So, if you’re keen, please:
Subscribe to the channel.
If your phone’s lying around doing nothing, just hit play on my videos and let them run. You don’t even have to watch them—I know I can get a bit boring sometimes!
Let’s learn together and make this an epic year for all of us.
